Genese Music and Entertainment Group LLC was established in the fall of 2000 under the name of Raljaz Music Group. Initially, Raljaz Music was a sole proprietorship owned by Ralph Rogers that offered recording services and equipment rental. In 2002, Raljaz Music merged with a small recording studio and started to develop a recording label.
The newly formed label experienced a great of success in the Mid-Atlantic through an aggressive marketing and touring campaign. This resulted in the creation of marketing, development, and production divisions. In 2004 the former partners were bought out and the process of building Genese Music began. In September of 2005 Genese Music and Entertainment had grown to a staff of 16 business and music professionals. With the business direction Genese Music solidified the company then started to recruit its first artist.
Currently, Genese Music and Entertainment Group is the parent company for Obia Soul, Genese Gospel, Genese South, and Pierre Noir. Each subsidiary label allows Genese Music and Entertainment to market its artist according to music genre and demographic appeal. Genese takes great lengths to develop its artist prior to producing any project that will be released. Artists are educated on audience expectations, sound production, and legal issues regarding their careers.
Audience expectations - When an artist is asked to join one of Genese the importance of maintaining or improving their appearance is stressed. Sound Production - Genese attempts to ensure its artist perform recorded material live in a way that satisfies their audiences. Legal Issues - Artists signed to one of Genese labels are educated on legal issues that may arise in their careers. On May 26, 2007 Genese Music and Entertainment will be holding its first regional open auditions at the legendary Eubie Blake Jazz Institute. The marketing department will unveil the new look and feel of Genese Music and its subsidiaries. As well as the announcment of its distribution arm and its first label acquisitions. |
